Some of the earliest horse races were held on a course in a paddock belonging to Mr James Cowell at Jarrahmond. For a long time horse races were part of the Marlo Picnic Races. Bellagoogan on Majors Creek near Orbost was the site of the first race course. Mat Lynch was a prominent local identity and generously donated a block of land situated on the Princes Highway, for the Brodribb Hall.Horse racing played a vital role in the history of Orbost. This item is connected to that role.A small metal badge which is a diamond shape with rounded corners. It has a small metal loop at the top.
